Could your Annapolis home’s kitchen use some new countertops? Contact Blair Construction!

One of the best ways to achieve a whole new look for your kitchen in your Annapolis home is to replace the countertops. Countertop materials are varied and each different kind will have some benefits as well as some drawbacks. Blair Construction can help you choose the right countertop materials for your unique needs and the style you are looking to incorporate for your Annapolis kitchen. Here are a few of the options available.

Engineered Quartz

Quartz countertops are manufactured surfaces that are available in a wide variety of different colors. It is made to be non-porous and anti-bacterial, making it much easier to care for than other countertop materials. The biggest drawback to quartz is its look – if you’re looking to go with a natural feel in your kitchen, quartz will stand out in a bad way. Also, the resin compound used in its manufacture makes it less able to resist heat, so you’ll have to use trivets in order to protect them. All in all, though, engineered quartz is one of the best countertop materials available.

Granite

Many homeowners have been opting to have granite countertops installed in their kitchens and it’s not hard to see why. The material features a speckled or motted surface and a natural, striking beauty. It is also extremely durable. While granite’s biggest drawback is that it is naturally porous, sealant can be applied to help protect against water and heat damage, making it an all-around performer in your kitchen.

Wood

Wood countertops have been having a moment recently in the interior design world. Wood is perhaps the most natural material you can use for your kitchen, so it is definitely recommended if you’re looking for classic appeal and a rustic aesthetic. However, wood needs more maintenance than other countertop materials. It will require sealing and does not handle direct heat very well, so you’ll have to use trivets or hot pads consistently. Water spills can also leave permanent marks if not cleaned up in time. But for those looking for that cottage look and don’t mind the maintenance, wood can’t be beat!
